As a former falcon ('97-'98), I feel at home on the RVMS campus and have a keen perspective of what Rincon has to offer students. This will be my eighth year teaching at RVMS. Since day one, I have been collaborating with the math department and developing as a professional. I am excited to offer your student an engaging and challenging Common Core curriculum.

MY EXPECTATIONS  I want all students to learn that math is a powerful tool and provides the opportunity to practice perseverance and creative problem-solving. My vision is to have students working and learning together, finding meaning in a subject that is both fun and challenging. I expect students to take an active role in their learning. This means they must participate, cooperate with peers, ask and answer questions in the spirit of investigative learning, and understand and learn from mistakes.

GROWTH MINDSET  In a growth mindset, students believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through learning from mistakes/failures, dedication, and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point. These students tend to achieve more than those with a more fixed mindset (those who believe their talents are innate gifts) because they view mistakes not as a failure, but as an opportunity to grow their brain, and they put more energy into learning new things. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment.
